1.

Turn the key to "IG-ON" and then back to "OFF." Then remove the key.

2.

Lock all the doors.

With Wireless Remote: Lock with the wireless transmitter key.

Without Wireless Remote: Lock with the mechanical key.

3.

Let the vehicle sit 120 minutes until the ECUs and IPO are in sleep mode.

4.

Set the multimeter to the correct range capable of reading 1 mA increments.

CAUTION:

Verify that the amperage draw does NOT exceed the meter amperage rating. Otherwise, you may cause damage to your meter.

Place the negative (-) terminal of the multimeter to the negative (-) terminal post of the battery and the positive (+) terminal of the multimeter to
the clamp of the negative (-) terminal battery cable.

6.

Remove the negative (-) terminal clamp from the negative (-) terminal post of the battery.

7.

Use a multimeter, which is capable of reading by 1 mA, and record the reading of parasitic draw.

The graph illustrates an acceptable parasitic current draw.

NOTE:

The average parasitic draw needs to be calculated by averaging minimum and maximum current level.

If the amperage exceeds the average maximum parasitic draw amperage, identify, isolate, and repair the source of the excess parasitic draw.
