Wiper Relay: Testing and Inspection

1.

On models equipped with intermittent non-variable wiper, inspect front wiper control relay as follows:
a. Connect positive battery lead to terminal 1, ensure operation noise when negative battery lead is connected to terminal 4, Fig. 30.
b. Connect battery positive lead to terminal 2.
c. Ensure relay operation noise when changing terminal 2 to negative battery terminal and another noise 3-5 seconds later.
d. If operation is not as indicated, replace relay.

2.

On models equipped with intermittent variable wiper, inspect front wiper control relay as follows:
a. Connect battery positive lead to terminals 1, ensure operation noise when terminal 4 is connected to battery negative lead.
b. Connect terminals 5 and 6.
c. Ensure relay operation noise about every 2 seconds.
d. If operation is not as indicated, replace relay.
