NOTICE:
Loosen the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the threads of the drive shaft may be damaged.

(b) While applying the brakes, remove the rear axle shaft nut.

7. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY   See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Trailing Arm/Service and

Repair/Removal

8. REMOVE REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY   See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Trailing Arm/Service and Repair/Removal

9. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Rear Knuckle/Service and Repair/Removal

10. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Using SST, remove the rear drive shaft assembly as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Remove the rear drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.

Installation

DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for AWD): INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Align the shaft splines and install the rear drive shaft assembly using a screwdriver and hammer.
