Installation

1AR-FE COOLING: THERMOSTAT: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL THERMOSTAT

(a) Install a new gasket to the thermostat.

(b) Install the thermostat with the jiggle valve facing upward.

HINT:  The jiggle valve may be set to within 10° on either side of the prescribed position.

2. INSTALL WATER INLET

(a) Install the water inlet with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7ft-lbf)

3. CONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Installation
4. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Installation
5. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Installation
6. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT

7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:  When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected  See: Testing and
Inspection/Repair Instruction - Initialization.

8. ADD ENGINE COOLANT See: Coolant/Service and Repair
9. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK See: Engine/Engine Lubrication/Engine Oil/Service and Repair/Replacement

10. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Installation
11. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
12. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
13. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Installation
