Brake caliper of front wheel brake, overhaul > < Technical data - Disc brake

 

Brake Calliper, Brake Disc  

Brake Calliper - Front Wheel Brake, Remove and Install  

Fill the brake fluid holder up to the "MAX" mark and close with MKM-558-10.  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove front wheel.  

Disconnect brake lining sensor cable (2). Remove brake pressure hose (1) from brake calliper. Catch brake fluid and close off openings.  

Lever out retaining springs (3) and remove.  

Remove dust caps (4) from guide bolts. Screw off guide bolts (5). Remove brake pad with retaining clip from piston. Remove remaining brake pad from brake backing plate.

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Unscrew bolts (1) from steering knuckle and remove brake backing plate.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install brake backing plate on steering knuckle - tightening torque 95 Nm/ 70 lbf. ft. Re-cut thread before re-use and insert fastening screws with locking compound.  

Insert brake linings. Install brake calliper on brake backing plate - tightening torque 30 Nm/22 lbf. ft. Attach dust caps. Screw brake pressure hose with new sealing ring to brake calliper - tightening torque 40 Nm/29.5 lbf. ft. Connect wear display cable. Hand-check brake calliper movability. Mount front wheel - tightening torque 110 Nm/81lbf. ft.

Remove MKM-558-10, vent the brake unit and check for leakage - see operation "Vent brake unit" and "Check brake unit for leakage".

Ensure that the brake hoses are routed without twisting (arrow).
