Injector (Single-point Fuel Injection)

The fuel injection systems with only one injector use the current regulator principle. For this, the injector is opened using a high current level (rapid opening) and then held open using a minimal current, until the final stage is switched off. The signal plot for this system has two voltage spikes.

Measurement:

Injector control signal.

Check Objective:

Checking control and operation of the injector.

Preparation

Engine oil temperature > 80 ° C. Switch off all electrical loads. Switch off the engine and ignition.

Connections

INPUT A

COM/TRIGGER

Connect the red measurement lead to pin 1 on the connection plug of the injectors.

Colour of the control wire: BL

Connect ground lead to ground.

Procedure

Start the engine and allow it to idle.

Reference Curve

Notice:

If the voltage spikes vary considerably, the horizontal scaling factor can be increased to 500 μ s/DIV to stabilise the display of the signal plot.

Possible Causes

Countermeasures

Exhaust too lean

Check Lambda sensor signal.

If ok, check and repair electronic engine system as specified in checking procedure.
