Check toothed belt tension (17 DR and X 17 DTL)  

Notice: 

This operation refers to run-in toothed belts only. For installation of a new toothed belt - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust (17 DR and X 17 DTL)". Adjustment is performed with the engine cold - at room temperature.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove alternator V-belt - see operation "V-belt - Alternator, Remove and Install". Remove upper part of front toothed belt cover.  

Remove crankshaft pulley (1) - counterhold on fastening bolt (2) of toothed belt drive pulley. Remove lower part of front toothed belt cover.     Adjust    At fastening bolt of the toothed belt pulley, turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to "1st Cylinder TDC" - see operation "1st Cylinder TDC, Adjust".

  Inspect   

Check installation position of coolant pump - adjust if necessary. Lug (2) on coolant pump must align with counterpart (1) on cylinder block.   The toothed belt tension is correct if pointer (4) rests approx. 4 mm left of notch (3).   If the toothed belt tension is not correctly adjusted - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust (17 DR and X 17 DTL)".     Install, Connect    Install lower part of front toothed belt cover - tightening torque 4 Nm/ 3 lbf. ft. Install crankshaft pulley - counterhold on fastening bolt of toothed belt drive pulley - tightening torque 20 Nm/ 15 lbf. ft. Install upper part of front toothed belt cover - tightening torque 4 Nm/ 3 lbf. ft.   Install alternator V-belt - see operation "V-belt - Alternator, Remove and Install".
