Table7, System Modification F7: PROGRAMMING

Note:

If a new control unit is installed in a vehicle or a control unit from one vehicle is installed in another vehicle, the control unit must be reprogrammed.

In vehicles with SIMTEC control units, recognition of whether a vehicle is fitted with manual or automatic transmission is performed automatically by the control unit. New control units are programmed for vehicles with manual transmission.

If the control unit has recognized automatic transmission once, this value remains store until the control unit is reprogrammed, i. e. if, for example, a control unit from an automatic transmission vehicle is installed in a manual transmission vehicle, the control unit must then be reprogrammed to inform it that it is now installed in a vehicle with manual transmission.

In the future, it will be possible to select other characteristic curves in the control unit for fuel injection (warm - up operation, acceleration enrichment) by selecting certain codes during programming, and thus improve the performance characteristics of the vehicle. This is done in a similar fashion as previously with different coloured octane number plugs.

More detailed information on this will be published in the relevant "Technical Information Bulletins TI".
