Brake Calipers In vehicles with the X 12 XE, X 16 SZR, X 14 XE, X 16 XEL, X 18 XE1, X 17 DTL and X 20 DTL engines, a new brake caliper (1) with a plastic piston (2) is used in conjunction with the brake anchor plate integrated into the steering knuckle. Advantage of plastic piston:
• Weight savings • Reduced heat conduction • Brake fluid is not heated as extremely as with metal pistons
In vehicles with the X 20 XEV engine and vehicles with the X 18 XE1 and X 20 DTL engines in conjunction with ABS, the brake caliper from the Vectra-B is used.
