Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove upper engine compartment cover.

Detach engine vent hose (2) from cylinder head cover (5).

For X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL engines: Detach charge air pipe (3) with charge air hose.

Remove charge air pipe (4) for Y 20 DTH and Y 22 DTR engines.

Remove coolant return pipe for Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003 and Y 20 DTR engines - see operation "Removing and installing coolant return pipe".

Detach rear wiring trough (7) from cylinder head cover.

Detach front wiring trough (6) from cylinder head cover and intake manifold.

Unclip vacuum line (1) from bracket (8).

Detach cylinder head cover from cylinder head.

  Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residues.

  Install

Attach new gasket (1) to cylinder head cover – gasket must be inserted in gap (2) between cylinder head cover and sleeve.

Apply sealing compound (black) to sealing surfaces (arrows).

Attach cylinder head cover to cylinder head – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Clip vacuum line into bracket.

Attach front wiring trough to cylinder head cover and intake manifold.

Attach rear wiring trough to cylinder head cover.

Install charge air pipe for Y 20 DTH and Y 22 DTR engines - see illustration "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

For X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL engines: Install charge air pipe with charge air hose – see illustration "Air Ducts X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL".

Install coolant return pipe for Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003 and Y 20 DTR engines - see operation "Removing and installing coolant return pipe".

Attach engine vent hose to cylinder head cover.

Install upper engine compartment cover.
