Injector Nozzle, Check

Test conditions: injector nozzle removed and connected to nozzle tester.

  Inspect

Leaks:

Open pressure gauge and depress lever of tester until gauge displays 100 bar overpressure. The injector nozzle is leak free if no drops emerge within 10 seconds.

Jet shape:

Pressure gauge closed! If the tester lever is actuated quickly, the injection jet must emerge cleanly in the shape of a narrow cone – without dispersion – finely atomised.

I = incorrect spray pattern

II = correct spray pattern

Do not hold parts of the body under the jet.

  Inspect

Opening pressure:

Before starting, actuate tester several times with closed manometer to rinse out the injector nozzle. To check, open manometer, press lever until injector nozzle sprays. Read off value from manometer. If the value that has been read off does not correspond to the prescribed opening pressure of 13000 to 14300 kPa (130 to 143 bar), readjust the injector nozzle using thrust adjustment washers on the thrust spring.

Each thrust adjustment washer with a gradation of 0.05 mm corresponds to a pressure difference of approx. 5 bar.

Replace thrust adjustment washers – see operation "Injector Nozzle, Disassemble and Assemble".
