X 17 DTL OHC II Turbodiesel Engine

The X 17 DTL OHC II turbodiesel engine does not have a mechanical injection pump as before, but is now equipped with an electronically controlled distributor injection pump (VP 29).

The main reasons for the change to an electronically controlled injection pump were:

•  Markedly improved performance and elasticity.

•  Torque characteristics improved from 132 Nm / 2400 rpm to 132 Nm / 1800 rpm

•  Stable idling behaviour

•  Decreased fuel consumption

•  Improved noise development in general

•  Decreased exhaust emissions

•  Supports diagnosis

Modifications relative to the X 17 DTL in the Astra-F are described below.
