Description of Individual Components

Transponder

The fob of the vehicle key contains an electronic component (transponder) with no inherent own power supply. The power the transponder requires is transmitted electro-magnetically by the immobiliser control unit.

Communication between the transponder and the immobiliser control unit also involves remote control. The maximum range of the transmitting and receiving antenna on the ignition lock is 2-3 cm.

Each transponder is programmed with a permanent fixed code (transponder code). The transponder code is different for each transponder key.

Notice:

Second generation transponders can also be used for first generation immobilisers. First generation transponders, however cannot be used for second generation immobilisers.
