Coolant Pipe, Remove and Install > < Thermostat/Thermostat Housing (Radiator), Remove and Install

Coolant Pump, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove engine cover. Open coolant drain bolt.

Remove air cleaner housing with hot film mass air flow meter and air intake hose - see illustration "Air duct X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" or "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

Remove ribbed V-belts – see operation "Ribbed V-belts, Remove and Install".

Attach engine to Engine Bridge MKM-883-1.

Lift right side of engine as high as possible – ensure that no attaching parts are damaged.

Detach engine damping block support from timing case.

Detach pulley (1) from coolant pump.

Detach coolant pump (2) from timing case and remove upwards – collect coolant.

  Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residues.

  Install

Attach coolant pump to timing case with new gasket – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.

Attach pulley to coolant pump – 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.

Attach engine damping block support to timing case – tightening torque 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft.

Lower engine using engine bridge. Detach engine bridge from engine and remove.

Install ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".

Install air cleaner housing with hot film mass air flow meter and air intake hose - see illustration "Air duct X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" or "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

Install engine cover. Close coolant drain bolt.

  Inspect

Charge cooling system – see operations "Cooling System, Charge and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
