System Programming

The system is programmed with TECH 2. Programming is performed with the immobiliser control unit in diagnostic mode and includes programming of the immobiliser control unit, the engine control unit and the transponder.

The individual programming operations are described in the relevant Checking Procedures.

I

Enter security code

Access to the security functions, such as the data for the immobiliser and the engine control unit or for programming of a new transponder, are protected by a password function (security code). Access to these functions is only possible after the security code has been correctly entered (with TECH 2).

As with the radio code, it is vital that the security code for the immobiliser control unit be entered correctly. If the code is incorrect, the next attempt can only be made after a waiting period has elapsed. The waiting periods are the same as those for the first generation of immobilisers.

• Service

If the immobiliser control unit or the engine control unit is replaced, the security code in these components must be reset before they are removed .

If both the immobiliser control unit and the engine control unit malfunction at the same time, all transponder keys for the vehicle must be replaced.

II

Loss of a transponder key

If a transponder key is lost, all transponder codes in the immobiliser control unit must be deleted to eliminate the possibility of misuse. The vehicle can then no longer be started. The transponder codes for the transponder keys that are still available are then reprogrammed using TECH 2.

III

Diagnosis

The immobiliser control unit supports diagnosis with TECH 2 when the ignition is switched off.
