Check compression (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z
16 XE, Z 16 YNG, X 18 XE1)

Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature >= 80
°C).
 Remove
Remove engine cover.
Detach wiring harness plug (2) from ignition module (3).
Remove ignition module from cylinder head cover or cylinder head
and detach using KM-6009 (1) from spark plugs. Remove spark plugs
with KM-194-E.
Remove fuel pump relay – see operation "Fuel Pump Relay,
Remove and Install (X 14 XE, X 16 XEL)", "Fuel Pump Relay, Remove
and Install (Z 14 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG)" or "Fuel Pump Relay,
Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".
For Z 14 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG: remove throttle body - see
operation "Throttle Body, Remove and Install (Z 14 XE, Z 16 XE, Z
16 YNG)"

Inspect
Use compression recorder with measuring range up to 1750 kPa
(17.5 bar).
Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds with throttle valve fully
open – minimum engine speed 300 rpm. The pressure difference
between the individual cylinders should not exceed 100 kPa (1
bar).
Install
For Z 14 XE, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG: install throttle body - see
operation "Throttle Body, Remove and Install (Z 14 XE, Z 16 XE, Z
16 YNG)"
Install fuel pump relay – see operation "Fuel Pump Relay,
Remove and Install (X 14 XE, X 16 XEL)", "Fuel Pump Relay, Remove
and Install (Z 14 XE, Z 16 XE, Z16 YNG)" or "Fuel Pump Relay,
Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".
Install spark plugs with KM-194-E – tightening torque 25
Nm / 18 lbf. ft.
Connect ignition module to spark plugs and attach to cylinder
head cover – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
Connect wiring harness plug to ignition module.
Install engine cover.
