Oil Filter, Oil Filter Housing, X 18 XE1 In contrast to the other DOHC I X 14 XE and X 16 XEL engines, the X 18 XE1 has an oil filter housing with a replaceable paper cartridge for an oil filter insert. The oil filter housing is bolted to the oil filter flange of the cylinder block. • Service When the oil filter is being changed, a valve is opened when the oil filter housing cover is detached, which allows the oil still in the oil filter housing to run back into the oil pan. Only the recyclable paper insert is left.
