Bypass Valve, Replace
 Remove

For X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG, Z 18 XE and Z
18 XEL as of MY 2002: remove oil filter - see operation "Oil
Filter, Replace (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG, Z
18 XE and Z 18 XEL as of MY 2002)".
For X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL up to MY 2002: Remove oil
filter housing – see operation "Oil Filter Housing, Remove
and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL up to MY 2001)".
Using tap (1) (M10 – 3rd speed) cut thread in shutter
disc, screw in M10 bolt and remove bypass valve from seat.

Install
Drive in bypass valve up to stop using drift ( Ø approx.
15 mm).
For X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG, Z 18 XE and Z
18 XEL as of MY 2002: install oil filter - see operation "Oil
Filter, Replace (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG, Z
18 XE and Z 18 XEL as of MY 2002)".
For X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL up to MY 2001: Install oil
filter housing – see operation "Oil Filter Housing, Remove
and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE and Z 18 XEL up to MY 2001)".
Inspect
Check engine oil level and correct if necessary.
