Throttle Valve Adjuster > < Engine X12XE

Throttle Body, Remove and Install (X 12 XE)

Note:   When removing and installing or replacing the throttle valve potentiometer and/or the throttle valve adjuster, it is essential that the adaptation values for the throttle valve in the EE PROM of the engine control unit are deleted using TECH 2 – see corresponding Checking Procedures.

  Remove

Remove air cleaner housing with hot film mass air flow meter and air intake cover – see illustration "Air Ducts X 12 XE".

  Remove

Detach coolant hoses (1) from throttle body.

Detach accelerator Bowden cable (4) from curved disc and bracket.

Detach engine vent hose from throttle body.

Remove vacuum hose for tank vent valve (3) from throttle body.

Disconnect wiring harness plug (5) from throttle valve adjuster and throttle valve potentiometer (2).

Detach throttle body (6) from intake manifold.

Object Number: 2399462  Size: DEFAULT

Transfer necessary attaching parts when replacing throttle body.

  Install

Attach throttle body with new gasket to intake manifold – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Connect wiring harness plug to throttle valve adjuster and throttle valve potentiometer.

Attach vacuum hose for tank vent valve to throttle body.

Attach accelerator Bowden cable to curved disc and bracket.

Attach engine vent hose to throttle body.

Attach coolant hoses to throttle body.

Install air cleaner housing with hot film mass air flow meter and air intake cover – see illustration "Air Ducts X 12 XE".

  Inspect

Charge coolant – see operation "Cooling System, Charge and Bleed" and "Coolant Level, Check and Correct".
