Engine Control Unit, Remove and Install (X 18
XE1)

Note: The security
code must be reset with TECH 2 before removal when replacing or
swapping engine control unit – see corresponding Checking
Procedures.
 Remove
Disconnect ground cable from battery.
Release both wiring harness plugs in direction of arrow and
detach from engine control unit.
Withdraw wiring harness plug for knock sensor (3) from bracket
– do not disconnect.
Remove ground cable (2)
Remove fastening bolts (1) and remove engine control unit.

Install
Attach engine control unit to intake manifold- tightening torque
8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
Attach ground cable to engine control unit.
Insert wiring harness plug for knock sensor in bracket.
Connect both wiring harness plugs to engine control unit and
lock.
Connect ground cable to battery.
