Attaching Parts – Cylinder Head, Remove and
Install
Note: The operation
"Attaching Parts – Cylinder Head, Remove and Install" is
described for a Z 16 SE engine. Proceed analogously for other
engine versions.
Remove
Remove heat shields from cylinder head with KM-834-A (1).
Remove spark plugs with KM-194-E.

Disconnect heat shield (1) from exhaust manifold (3).
Remove exhaust manifold from cylinder head – remove gasket
(2).
Detach coolant temperature sensor from cylinder head.
Detach thermostat housing from cylinder head.
Remove thermostat from cylinder head.
Remove intake manifold from cylinder head.
Remove gasket.
Clean
Clean all removed parts and sealing surfaces.

Install
Attach inlet manifold with new seal to cylinder head –
tightening torque 22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft.
Insert thermostat in cylinder head with new seal ring.
Attach thermostat housing to cylinder head – 10 Nm / 7
lbf. ft.
Attach coolant temperature sensor to cylinder head with new seal
ring – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
Attach exhaust manifold to cylinder head with new gasket –
22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft.
Attach heat shield to exhaust manifold – tightening torque
8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
Install spark plugs with KM-194-E – tightening torque 25
Nm / 18 lbf. ft.
Coat heat shields with assembly paste (white) and install in
cylinder head with KM-834-A – tightening torque 25 Nm / 18
lbf. ft.
