Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) of selector lever position switch – open lock clip in direction of arrow.

Press off selector actuation cable (3) from actuator lever.

Lever out retaining clamp (2) with screwdriver and unclip selector actuation cable from counterhold.

For transmissions AF 20/AF 22: Remove fluid filler tube – see operation "Fluid Filler Tube and/or Seal Ring, Replace (AF 20/AF 22)".

Remove counterhold for selector actuation cable (5) with transmission wiring harness bracket (4) from transmission.

If present: Remove wiring trough (1) (1 fastening bolt).

  Install

Connect KM-962-A (6) to wiring harness plug for selector lever position switch. Connect KM-962-A with KM-962-10 (2) to battery.

  Adjust

Place selector lever in neutral position by turning actuation lever (4) – first turn clockwise to stop, then turn back two notches ("P", "R", "N"). For selector lever position "N" the LEDs corresponding to the markings on the plug-in check-display must illuminate. To adjust, release stop bolts (3) and (5). Turn selector lever position switch so that all LEDs corresponding to selector lever position "N" illuminate.

Tighten stop bolts (1) and (3) – tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft.

  Inspect

Select all gears in sequence by turning actuation lever (2). The LEDs corresponding to the markings on the plug-in check-display must illuminate for each individual selector lever position – repeat adjustment procedure if necessary.

Note:   Use plug-in check-display (4) for "AF TYPE" (arrow).

Connect and lock wiring harness plug (1) for selector lever position switch (illustration L4260 shows AF 22).

For AF 20/AF 22: Install fluid filler tube (2) – see operation "Fluid Filler Tube and/or Seal Ring, Replace (AF 20/AF 22)".

Insert selector actuation cable in counterhold (2) and clip in – ensure correct engagement. Slide in retaining clamp (1). Press selector actuation cable (3) onto actuation lever for selector lever position switch (ball socket onto ball stud).

If removed: Install wiring trough (1 fastening bolt) – tightening torque 5 Nm / 3.7 lbf. ft.

Install battery support – tightening torque 15 Nm / 11 lbf ft.

Install battery.
