Attach Bracket KM-910 (2) to transmission. Attach assembly to Bracket KM-113-2 (1) and lock horizontally.

Remove converter – see operation "Converter and/or Fluid Pump Seal Ring, Replace (AF 13-II/AF 17/AF 20/AF 22)".

Remove converter housing from transmission housing – 15 fastening bolts (arrows).

Remove retaining plate from roller bearing – 1 fastening bolt (1).

Remove fastening clamp for pipe (2) - 1 fastening bolt (3). If stiff, drive out pipe with KM-J-7004 and KM-586 – thereby ensuring that pipe is no damaged.

Remove fluid baffle plate – 3 fastening bolts (4). Remove 3 magnets (arrow) from underside of fluid baffle plate – clean if necessary.

Remove roller bearing from converter housing – use KM-J-26941 (7), KM-313 (5) and KM-483 (6) as shown in F 3188.

Remove thrust bearing assembly (8).

Insert thrust bearing assembly (1).

Caution

Roller bearings must always be replaced in pairs. When pressing in bearing, ensure that the housing part lies on a suitable plane surface.

  Install

Insert roller bearing with collar on top and push in with KM-204 (2).

Attach fastening bolts (3) to retaining plate on converter housing – tightening torque 13 Nm / 10 lbf. ft.

Attach pipe (4) and clamp fastening bolt (5) – tightening torque 5 Nm / 4 lbf. ft.

Attach fastening bolts (6) for fluid baffle plate to converter housing with 3 magnets – tightening torque 7 Nm / 5 lbf. ft.

Remove 3 gaskets (1 and 2) and clean sealing surfaces.

Caution

No gasket residue may fall into transmission housing.

  Install

Insert 3 gaskets and apply sealing compound to transmission housing.

Attach converter housing to transmission housing (15 fastening bolts) – tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft. Insert fastening bolts (3) with locking compound.

Install converter – see operation "Converter and/or Fluid Pump Seal Ring, Replace (AF 13-II/AF 17/AF 20/AF 22)".

Remove assembly from Bracket KM-113-2 and Bracket KM-910 from transmission.

Install transmission – see operation "Transmission, Remove and Install (AF 13-II/AF 17)".
