Tie Rod, Remove and Install > < Straight Ahead Position, Check/Adjust

Tie Rod End, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove front wheel.

Measure free thread length (I) from lock nut to thread end on the tie rod. Release lock nut (1) – counterhold using open ended spanner on tie rod.

Detach fastening nut (2). Using KM-507-C (3), press tie rod end out of steering knuckle.

Detach tie rod end from tie rod.

  Install

Attach tie rod end to tie rod. Note previously measured free thread length.

Lock tie rod end with lock nut – tightening torque 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Hold using open ended spanner on tie rod end.

Object Number: 2398503  Size: DEFAULT

Install tie rod end with new fastening nut on steering knuckle – tightening torque 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft.

Attach front wheel – tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.

  Adjust

Check toe-in, and adjust if necessary – see operations "Chassis Alignment" and "Toe-in, Adjust" in group "E":
