Remove
Remove corresponding tie rod end from tie rod – see
operation "Tie Rod End, Remove and Install". Remove corresponding
bellows on steering gear – see operation "Steering Gear

remove and install the left tie rod. On LHD vehicles, both bellows
on the steering gear have to be removed to remove and install the
right tie rod.
On vehicles with right- and left-hand drive a flat surface is to
be found on the steering shaft side to hold against the steering
rack (arrows).

rod.

to steering rack – tightening torque 90 Nm / 66 lbf. ft.
Counterhold with open-ended wrench (2) against the flat surface
(arrows) on steering rack in order to avoid damaging steering gear
and steering rack.
Install bellows on steering gear – see operation "Steering
Gear Bellows, Replace".
