Astra G
Electronic Immobiliser with Transponder The Astra-G features the second generation of the electronic immobiliser with transponder. The immobiliser is a further development of the existing system. In addition to the fixed code (transponder code) used for the first generation of immobilisers, the new generation uses an alternating code to identify the correct key. This improves security against theft. The immobiliser with transponder in conjunction with the engine control unit operates independently of the central door locking system (CDLS) and can be checked and programmed with TECH 2.
2.18 Electronic Immobiliser with Transponder (continued) The immobiliser control unit features catches on the inner side of the antenna ring to prevent the immobiliser control unit being detached from the ignition lock. The control unit can only be detached after the lock cylinder has been released and removed. An additional protective feature for the immobiliser with transponder is at present only available for Great Britain: a metal protective cap positioned over the immobiliser control unit and the wiring harness plug. This protective cap makes a considerable anti-manipulation contribution, as the wiring harness plug can no longer simply be detached. • Service In Service cases, the lock cylinder must first be removed. The immobiliser control unit can then be disconnected and the protective cap - if fitted - pushed down from the control unit. Only then can the wiring harness plug be disconnected. |
