Rear member (impact absorber), remove and install > < Replacement of parts of the outer skin / doors, tailgates and luggage compartment lids, bonnets with folded edges

Bulkhead closure plate, remove and install

Note:   The operation described is for a LHD vehicle. The procedure for RHD vehicles is similar.

  Remove

1.   Detach air distributor housing LUREF_1.gif
2.   Detach accelerator pedal module LUREF_1.gif
3.   Detach brake pedal
  • LHD
  • RHD
4.   Detach clutch pedal
5.   Detach internal bulkhead closure plate insulation
•   Remove 4x snap button (1)

6.   Remove battery support
7.   Unclip coolant tank (1) and lay aside
8.   Detach ABS control / hydraulic modulator bracket (2)
•   Unscrew 2x bolt (3)

9.   Detach bulkhead closure plate
•   Unscrew 7x nut (arrows)
•   Unscrew bolt (1)
Object Number: 3446859 Size: DEFAULT


  Install

10.   Install bulkhead closure plate
•   Apply glass adhesive
Note:   Apply adhesive bead (1) as illustrated.
– Diameter of adhesive bead (8.0) mm
•   Fit 7x nut 20 Nm
•   Screw in bolt 20 Nm
Note:   Use new nuts. Insert bolt with screw locking compound.

11.   Attach ABS control / hydraulic modulator bracket
•   Tighten 2x bolt
12.   Clip in coolant tank
13.   Install battery support
14.   Attach internal bulkhead closure plate insulation
•   Install 4x snap button
15.   Attach clutch pedal
16.   Attach brake pedal

  • RHD
17.   Attach accelerator pedal module LUREF_1.gif
18.   Attach air distributor housing LUREF_1.gif
