Front panelling front guide rail, remove and install > < Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install

Replace front panelling

  Remove

1.   Remove radiator grille
2.   Release front panelling
•   Remove 2x body-bound rivet (2) from top front member
•   Unscrew 4x right-hand (1) and left-hand outside bolt (3)
•   Remove 3x body-bound rivet (4) from front axle body
•   Unclip external temperature sensor(arrow) from ventilation grille

3.   For vehicles with high-pressure headlamp washers, remove the high-pressure headlamp washer hose from the washing water container
Note:   Liquid will escape.
•   Unlatch the quick-release fitting of the washing water container
4.   For vehicles with a fog lamp, disconnect the right and left fog lamp wiring harness plugs
Important:   Danger of damage. Carefully disengage the front panelling from the guide rails. Press the side of the front panelling (I) upwards in the guide rail area and at the same time pull it outwards (arrow).
5.   Remove front panelling
Note:   This requires a second person
•   Unclip the front panelling from the right guide rail
•   Unclip the front panelling from the left guide rail
•   Unclip the front panelling from the front guide rails (II), (1)

6.   When replacing the front panelling, transfer the attaching parts

  Install

7.   Prepare the front panelling
Note:   This requires a second person
•   Clip the front panelling into the front guide rail
•   Clip the front panelling into the right guide rail
•   Clip the front panelling into the left guide rail
8.   For vehicles with a fog lamp, connect the right and left fog lamp wiring harness plugs
9.   For vehicles with high-pressure headlamp washers, install the high-pressure headlamp washer hose on the washing water container
•   Lock the quick-release fitting on the washing water container
10.   Attach front panelling
•   Clip the external temperature sensor into the ventilation grille
•   Install 3x body-bound rivet in the front axle body
•   Install 2x body-bound rivet in the front member
•   Screw in 4x bolt on the outside, left and right 2.5 Nm
11.   Install radiator grille
