Two-Colour Paintwork for C-Pillar Folding Roof (Model L 67)

To prevent the edge between the body-coloured section (2) and the black-painted (colour code Z20C ) section (1) of the C-pillar folding roof from being too pronounced, the following work instructions for the corresponding paint stages must be followed.



Paint stage I:

1.

Apply surface primer to entire component

a)

Paint entire component in body colour

2.

Leave for 20 - 30 minutes to flash off

3.

Cover section of component to remain body-coloured

4.

Paint inner section in black

5.

Remove cover

6.

Apply clear coat to entire component

7.

Allow clear coat to dry

8.

Intermediate grind entire component, working from body-coloured section to black section (use grade P1500 3M 260L abrasive paper)

9.

Apply clear coat to entire component

10.

Allow clear coat to dry


Paint stage II:

1.

Grind outer body-coloured section

2.

Pad-grind the inner black-painted section

3.

Cover the black-painted section

4.

Paint the outer part in body colour

5.

Remove cover

6.

Apply 2 clear coats to entire component


Paint stage III:

One side damaged:

Both sides damaged:

1.

Apply filler to damage

1.

Apply filler to damage

2.

Cover non-affected side and apply surface primer

2.

Proceed as described in paint stage I

3.

Proceed as described in paint stage II
