Seal Ring - Crankshaft (Front), Replace > < Check crankshaft bearing clearance with micrometer gauge and internal measuring device

Seal Ring (Rear), Replace (New Design from MY 2005)

  Remove

1.   Remove flywheel
2.   Prise out plastic ring (1) with screwdriver (2)
Object Number: 8230999  Size: DEFAULT


Important:   Only make a hole at the areas (1) at the 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock positions as these are the only areas where there is a cavity behind the seal ring
3.   Use a suitable tool, such as a pricker (2), to make a hole in the seal ring
Important:   The diameter of the hole must not exceed 2 mm. Otherwise, the the bolt of KM-6624 will not be able to grip
•   Position the pricker at the outer edge of the seal ring

4.   Remove the seal ring
•   Attach KM-6624 (1) to the seal ring
Tighten bolt
•   Attach KM-328-B to KM-6624
•   Tap out seal ring with KM-328-B (2) together with KM-6624

  Install

5.   Remove surplus sealing compound at the dividing point between the cylinder block and oil pan (arrows)
Object Number: 8231002  Size: DEFAULT


6.   Position new seal ring
•   Slide the seal ring over the crankshaft. Push on until it is flush and sits evenly in the cylinder block
Note:   Do not press seal ring in fully, and do not twist
Note:   For Z16XEP MY 2005 - 2006 : see Quick Info 2177
7.   Install seal ring with KM-6623 (1)
•   Tighten 3x bolt (2)
•   Press seal ring all the way in
Screw in bolt (3)

8.   Remove KM-6623
•   Unscrew 3 bolts
9.   Fit flywheel
