Timing Case Seal Ring, Replace
Remove

Remove right engine splash guard (2)
• |
Remove 2x body-bound rivets (3)
|

|
|
3. |
Remove ribbed V-belt
• |
Mark direction of rotation
|
• |
Apply tension to ribbed V-belt tensioner (arrow) clockwise with
KM-6131
|
• |
Relieve tension on ribbed V-belt tensioner
|
|
|
|
4. |
Remove crankshaft belt pulley (1)
• |
Unscrew 6x bolts
– |
Counterhold against the bolt of the crankshaft hub
|
|
|
5. |
Position the engine to "TDC of combustion stroke, cylinder 1"
by the bolt of the crankshaft hub
• |
Marking on crankshaft hub must point upwards.
|
|
6. |
Remove crankshaft hub
• |
Counterhold with KM-956-1 in
conjunction with KM-956-2 (4)
|
• |
Take out crankshaft hub (2)
|
|
|
|
Important: Do not damage sealing
surfaces
|
7. |
Prise seal ring, timing case / front of crankshaft (1) out of
timing case with a suitable tool
|
8. |
Clean sealing surfaces.
|
9. |
Install seal ring timing case/front of crankshaft
• |
Coat sealing lip of new seal ring with silicone grease
|
• |
Slide seal ring onto KM-960 (2)
|
• |
Drive seal ring into timing case with KM-960 until flush
|
|
|
|
Install

Attach crankshaft hub
• |
Marking on crankshaft hub must point upwards.
|
|
11. |
Attach crankshaft hub
Note: Use a second
person
• |
Tighten fastening bolt, crankshaft hub 150 Nm + 45° + 15°
– |
Counterhold with KM-956-1 in
conjunction with KM-956-2
|
|
|
12. |
Attach crankshaft belt pulley to crankshaft hub
• |
Tighten 6x bolt 8 Nm
– |
Counterhold against the bolt of the crankshaft hub
|
|
|
13. |
Insert ribbed V-belt
• |
Position ribbed V-belt
– |
Ensure correct running direction and installation position
|
|
• |
Apply tension to ribbed V-belt tensioner with KM-6131
|
• |
Relieve tension on ribbed V-belt tensioner
|
|
14. |
Attach right engine splash guard
• |
Install 2x body-bound rivets
|
|
|
