Starter, Remove and Install

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Remove battery
•   Detach earth connection (4) from battery
•   Detach positive connection (3) from battery
•   Remove bracket 1)
– Unscrew bolt (2)

3.   Remove battery support.
•   Remove pre-glow system control unit (4)
•   Remove wiring harness plug (3)
•   Detach coolant hose
– Unclip clip (5)
•   Detach wiring harness
– Detach 2x cable ties (1)
•   Unscrew 3x bolts (2)

4.   Release starter on the transmission side
•   1 bolt (1)

5.   Raise vehicle by its full height
6.   Detach the lower engine cover and right engine splash guard
7.   Detach oil return hose, oil filter housing (1)
•   from engine block
•   1 clip

8.   Remove starter
•   Detach cable connections
– 1 cable tie (5)
– 2 nuts (2) and (3)
– 1 bolt (1)
•   1 bolt (4)

  Install

9.   Install starter
•   1 bolt
– Tightening torque 38.2 Nm
•   Attach cable connections
– 2 nuts
– 1 bolt
– 1 cable tie
10.   Attach oil return hose, oil filter housing
•   On cylinder block
•   1 clip
11.   Install lower engine cover and right engine splash guard
12.   Lower vehicle by its full height
13.   Secure starter
•   1 bolt
– Tightening torque 60 Nm
14.   Install battery holder
•   Tighten 3x bolts
•   Attach pre-glow system control device
•   Attach wiring harness plug
•   Clip in coolant hose
•   Attach wiring harness
– Connect 2x cable ties
15.   Install battery
•   Install bracket
– Tighten 1x bolt
•   Attach earth connection to battery
– Tighten nut
•   Attach positive connection to battery
– Tighten nut
16.   Program volatile memories
17.   Close bonnet
