Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Voltage/Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC11 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T003

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Measure resistance between:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm
Yes: No:
T004

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Measure resistance between:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 15 (XC11)

less than 5 Ohm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: Ohm
Yes: No:
T005

Check: Pneumatic Components

  • Disconnect vacuum hose from following component:
    Vacuum Actuator - Boost Pressure Control Valve
  • Connect vacuum pump MKM-667 (hose side) to:
    Vacuum Actuator - Boost Pressure Control Valve
  • Connect wiring harness connector to:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC11 )
  • Engine idling
  • Select and enable diagnostic tester actuator test:
    Boost Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Test
    Use soft key to activate the corresponding component

Indicates the vacuum pump a value between -70 kPa ( -0.7 bar ) and -100 kPa ( -1 bar )?

Yes: No:
T006

Check: Pneumatic Components

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect vacuum hose from following component:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Input connection)
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    (Input connection)
  • Connect vacuum pump MKM-667 (hose side) to:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    (Input connection)
  • Close the following vacuum connection tightly (hose side)
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Input connection)
  • Engine idling

Indicates the vacuum pump a value between -70 kPa ( -0.7 bar ) and -100 kPa ( -1 bar )?

Yes: No:

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation

or

  • Pneumatic system leak between:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    (Output connection)
    &
    Vacuum Actuator - Boost Pressure Control Valve
E003 Result: Pneumatic Fault
  • Pneumatic system leakage/plugging between:
    Vacuum pump
    &
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    &
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
E004 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 15 (XC11)
    &
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
E005 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
