Complaint: |
Rough idle, engine cuts out, run’s on
"three cylinders" only or typical DTC related to the
injectors. |
Cause: |
Possibly injector defect (observe checking
procedure). |
Production: |
|
Remedy:
TECH 2 offers the opportunity to check the injector’s cylinder specific.
This function called "cylinder balance test" can be found in TECH 2
actuator test and was introduced for EDC16 engines as follows:
- Opel Astra-H:
Z 17 DTL as of MY 2004
Z 17 DTH as of MY 2004
Z 19 DT as of MY 2005
Z 19 DTH as of MY 2005
- Opel Zafira-B:
Z 19 DT as of MY 2005
Z 19 DTH as of MY 2005
- Opel Vectra-C/Signum:
Z 19 DT as of MY 2004
Z 19 DTH as of MY 2004
Once started you have the opportunity to either trigger the fluctuation
in fuel amount per stroke (mm³/stroke) or to check the fluctuation of
the engine rpm from idle speed up to approx. 2500 1/min and also to
save a snapshot ( TECH 2 as of TIS 2000-DVD, version 87). Values between
-4,5 mm³/stroke up to +4,5 mm³/stroke are considered as normal and do not
need injector replacement. Any other values for example +6 mm³/stroke or
-6 mm³/stroke might be related to a defect injector but could also
indicate a mechanical failure to the engine. Before replacing any
injector please also perform a loss of pressure as well as a compression
test in order to rule out any kind of engine damage.
The description about cylinder balance test will be introduced step by
step into TIS 2000 checking procedure.
