Check: Short to Voltage/Ground of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
  • Ignition ON
  • Diagnostic Tester Data List Parameter
    B1S2 O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

Note:

This data list parameter is in the data list 3 .

    (Wiring Harness Connector XC54, XC55 )
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

Check: Circuit Interruption of Ground Circuit

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3

    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 43 (XC54)

less than 5 Ohm

  • Check the following components for tightness:

Check: Mechanical Functionality

  • Check the catalytic converter for mechanical damages
    (Tears in the outer case, damages of the internal catalyst bed)

Check: Short to Voltage/Ground of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
  • Ignition ON
  • Diagnostic Tester Data List Parameter
    B1S2 O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

This data list parameter is in the data list 3 .

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
    or
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

Note:

The replacement of the components must be done in the listed order.

The system must be checked for proper operation after every replacement.

E002 Result: Mechanical Fault
  • Defective component:
    Catalytic Converter
E003 Result: Defective Component
  • Following system/component is faulty:
    Exhaust system

  • Circuit interruption between:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check

    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 43 (XC54)
E005 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 43 (XC54)
E006 Result: Short to Voltage
  • Short circuit to voltage between:
    B57 Sensor - Oxygen, Catalytic Converter Check
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 43 (XC54)

  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Important:

Important:
