Valve Body, Dismantle and Assemble (AF17)

Note:   The valve body is only dismantled for cleaning purposes.

Individual parts for the valve body are not available from suppliers; the complete valve body must be replace in the event of loss or damage.

Overview of Valve Body

  Remove

2.   Remove gearshift valve (1) 3.   Remove solenoid valve for shifting in/out of neutral (2) 4.   Remove converter clutch solenoid valve (5) •   Detach clamp (4) – Unscrew bolt (3) 5.   Unscrew 8x bolt (arrows) •   Unscrew 8x bolt (arrows) – Detach 2x clamp (10) and (11) 6.   Remove pressure regulator (7) •   Detach retaining clamp (6) – Unscrew bolt 7.   Remove solenoid valve 2/3-gearshift (8) •   Unscrew bolt 8.   Remove solenoid valve 1/2 and 3/4 gearshift (9) •   Unscrew bolt

9.   Detach cover of front valve body •   Unscrew 8x bolt (arrows) •   Remove gasket 10.   Remove 2x fluid strainer (1) and (2) 11.   Detach front valve body •   Unscrew 3x bolt (3) •   Detach plate, front valve body (5) •   Detach 2x gasket from front valve body – Detach gasket no. 1 and no. 2 (4) 12.   Remove 5x locking ball (8) 13.   Remove pressure-limiting valve (6) with spring (7)

14.   Unscrew 5x bolt (1) and (3) •   Remove oil retaining plate (2) and retaining clamp for wiring harness (4) 15.   Detach rear valve body no. 2 (6) •   Turn valve body (arrow) •   Unscrew 5x bolt (arrows) •   Remove plate of rear valve body (5) •   Detach 2x gasket no. 3 (7) for plate of rear valve body

16.   Detach rear valve body no. 1 •   Unscrew 3x bolt (1) •   Turn rear valve body no. 1. •   Detach valve body plate and gasket no. 1 and no. 2 17.   Remove fluid strainer (5) 18.   Remove 7x locking ball (4) and (6) 19.   Remove 3x pressure-limiting valve (7) and (8) •   Remove 3x spring 20.   Remove fluid cooler bypass valve (9) with spring (10)

  Install

22.   Insert fluid cooler by-pass valve (2) with spring (1) in centre valve body. 23.   Insert 3x pressure-limiting valve (6) and (7) •   Insert 3x spring 24.   Insert fluid strainer (4) 25.   Install 7x locking ball (3) and (5) 26.   Attach rear valve body no. 1 to centre valve body •   Insert valve body plate (8) and 2x gasket no. 1 and no. 2 (9) in rear valve body no. 1 •   Turn rear valve body no. 1. •   Tighten 3x bolt (10) 7 Nm

27.   Attach rear valve body no. 2 (3) on rear valve body •   Position rear valve body plate (4) and 2x gasket no. 3 (1) •   Tighten 5x bolt (arrows) 7 Nm •   Turn valve body •   Install fluid retaining plate (6) and 2x wiring harness clamp (7) – Tighten 5x bolt (5) and (8) 7 Nm

28.   Attach front valve body to central valve body •   Insert 5x locking ball (3) and pressure-limiting valve (2) with spring (1) in valve body •   Place front valve body plate (6) and 2x gasket no. 1 and no. 2 (5) on to front valve body •   Tighten 3x bolt (4) 7 Nm 29.   Insert 2x fluid strainer (7) and (8) 30.   Insert 8x bolt (arrows) in front valve body

31.   Attach cover of front valve body •   Attach gasket and 2x retaining clamp, wiring harness (1) and (2) •   Tighten 8x bolt (arrows) 7 Nm 32.   Install solenoid valve 2/3-gearshift (5) •   Tighten bolt 7 Nm 33.   Install solenoid valve 1/2-2/4-gearshift (6) •   Tighten bolt 7 Nm 34.   Install pressure regulator (4) •   Attach clamp (3) – Tighten bolt 7 Nm 35.   Install solenoid valve, converter clutch (10) •   Attach clamp (9) – Tighten bolt (8) 7 Nm 36.   Install solenoid valve, gearshift from/into neutral (7) •   Tighten bolt 7 Nm 37.   Insert shift valve (11) in valve body
