Contact point detection (F13 MTA/F17+ MTA)
Note: The contact
point is the position at which the thrust plate and the clutch disc
touch and transfer a small torque (approx. 4 Nm ). The control unit is despatched with a
preset contact point. This characteristic value varies as a
consequence of clutch and vehicle tolerances. Therefore this
parameter must be determined when the vehicle is first used.
Not OK Criterion after Determining the Contact
Point
After determining the contact point with TECH 2 it is essential
to assess whether the start-up procedure was successful. The
following not OK criterion is applicable:
- Vehicle type, after determining contact point 2
- Z16XEP contact point >14.0 mm
If the Not OK criterion is exceeded after the 2nd contact
detection point it is necessary to repeat the filling/bleeding
process and contact point detection. Fluctuating engine torque
signals or air in the hydraulic line of the release system can
cause this type of error. Increased clutch temperature has a
negative influence on contact point determination or indicates
defective contact point determination.
