DTC P2016 or P2017Diagnostic Instructions
DTC DescriptorsDTC P2016 08: Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve Feedback Circuit Low VoltageDTC P2017 08: Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve Feedback Circuit High Voltage Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System DescriptionThe position of the swirl flaps is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM controls the intake manifold runner control solenoid valve to create a swirl in the combustion chamber to get a homogeneous diesel air mixture. The ECM will vary the intake manifold runner control solenoid valve referring to the barometric pressure and the mass air flow. The ECM uses a pulse width modulation on the control circuit to control the intake manifold runner control solenoid valve. Conditions for Running the DTCEngine is running Conditions for Setting the DTCP2016The ECM detects a short to ground or an open circuit for more than 5 s. P2017The ECM detects a short to voltage for more than 5 s. Action Taken When the DTC SetsDTCs P2016 and P2017 are Type A DTCs. Conditions for Clearing the DTCDTCs P2016 and P2017 are Type A DTCs. Circuit/System Testing
If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. If the DTC resets, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. Repair InstructionsPerform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure. |
