Circuit/System Description
When the engine turns off while the Stop/Start Mode, the
auxiliary oil pump will be activated. Therefore, the engine control
module (ECM) grounds the auxiliary oil pump control circuit.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The ECM continuously monitors for this DTC.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B261A 00
The ECM detects an open at the auxiliary oil pump control circuit.
B261C 00
The ECM detects a short to ground at the auxiliary oil pump control
circuit.
B261D 00
The ECM detects a short to voltage at the auxiliary oil pump
control circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
Prevent the Stop/Start function.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
A current DTC will clear when the conditions for setting are no
longer present.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, command the auxiliary engine oil pump ON and OFF
using the scan tool ECM Engine Coolant Pump output control. The
auxiliary engine oil pump should turn ON and OFF.
Circuit/System Testing
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the
harness connector at the G39 Engine Oil Pump - Auxiliary.
|
2. |
Ignition ON, test for greater
11 V between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.
|
⇒ |
If less than the specified range, test the
ignition circuit for a short to ground or open/high
resistance. |
3. |
Connect a test lamp between
the ignition circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal
2. |
4. |
Command the ECM Engine Coolant
Pump output control ON and OFF with the scan tool. The test lamp
should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded
states. |
⇒ |
If the test lamp always illuminates, test the
control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit test normal,
replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
⇒ |
If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the
control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance.
If the circuit test normal, replace the K20 Engine Control
Module. |
5. |
If all circuits test normal,
replace the G39 Engine Oil Pump - Auxiliary. |
Repair Instructions
Perform the
Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic
procedure.
