Intake Camshaft Replacement

Special tools

EN-46789   Camshaft Locking Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
3. Install the EN-46789   Camshaft Locking Tool .

4. Remove and DISCARD the intake camshaft sprocket bolt (2).
5. Remove the intake camshaft sprocket (1).
6. Remove the EN-46789   Camshaft Locking Tool .

7. Remove the camshaft housing plug (2).
8. Remove the intake camshaft (1).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the intake camshaft (1).
2. Install a NEW camshaft housing plug (2).
3. Install the EN-46789   Camshaft Locking Tool .

4. Install the intake camshaft sprocket (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .
5. Install the NEW intake camshaft sprocket bolt (2) and tighten in two passes:
  5.1 First pass to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) .
  5.2 Second pass to an additional 52° .
6. Remove the EN-46789   Camshaft Locking Tool .
7. Install the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
8. Close the hood.
