Coupling, Replace
Remove
Remove
both clamp bolts - for steering spindle as well as for steering pinion on
flexible joint.
Position steering gear straight ahead.
Loosen
steering gear nuts and bolts at dash panel.
Push
steering coupling upwards on steering spindle (steering pinion clamp flange
is made accessible).
Tilt
coupling slightly and pull off downwards from steering spindle.
Replace
steering coupling.

Install
Push
new steering coupling on to steering spindle and steering pinion.
The steering wheel spokes are centred diagonally and
point downwards.
The steering gear must be in the straight ahead
position.
The clamp flange bolt for the steering spindle must be
lying horizontally on top.
Push
steering coupling downwards on steering pinion and tighten clamp bolt in pinion
flange - observe prescribed torque.
Fasten
steering gear to dash panel - observe prescribed torque.
Pull
steering spindle upwards until stop on steering spindle ball bearing is
reached. In this position, tighten steering spindle flange clamp bolt - observe
prescribed torque.

straight ahead position of steering (see operation "Steering, Position
Straight Ahead" in this group).
