Secondary Air Injection System

Vehicles:

All Above Vehicles with Secondary Air Injection System

Condition:

The engines with the secondary air injection system fulfil today the exhaust emission directives planned for 1996.

The purpose of this system is to re-oxidise the exhaust gasses in the exhaust line during the engine warm-up phase. This shortens the warm-up phase of the catalytic converter. This system operates for approx. 1 to 2 minutes after a cold start, depending on the ambient temperature.

The operating noise of the secondary air pump is audible during this period. This pump noise is normal.

The system is operating correctly.

Please inform your customers in the event of queries or complaints.

Note:

In the event of complaints, always first carry out an inspection.

If work on the secondary air injection system is necessary, proceed with utmost care. The flange connections and pipe/hose or hose/pipe connection points must be absolutely tight. There must be no uncontrolled access of fresh air to the exhaust line, as this could lead to damage to the catalytic converter and engine.
