Replacing curtain airbag wiring harness
Warning: If wiring
harness is damaged: repair, dismantling, replacement and
cross-replacement of cables that are attached to pyrotechnic unit
gas generators is not permitted.
Important:
Replacing the wiring harness for the curtain airbag is permitted.
The curtain airbag wiring harness connects the body wiring harness
to the gas generator of the curtain airbag.
 Remove

Disconnect battery
Note: Wait for 1 minute
until capacitor has discharged

Remove inner panelling, C-pillar (F 08) 
|
| 3. |
Remove inner panelling, C-pillar (F 68)
|
|
| 4. |
The wiring harness plug (2) and wiring harness plug (1) on the
gas generator are disconnected to remove the damaged curtain airbag
wiring harness.

Remove wiring harness plug from curtain airbag wiring
harness.

Remove retaining clip (1) from wiring harness plug
|

Compress wiring harness retaining clip (1)
|

Pull off wiring harness plug (2)
|

Remove wiring harness plug from gas generator

Remove wiring harness plug retaining clip (1) (arrow)

| • |
Disconnect wiring harness plug (2)
|
| • |
Unclip curtain airbag wiring harness retaining strap (3)
Note: Damaged curtain
airbag wiring harness retaining straps are replaced.
Note: The Aftersales
Department supplies the curtain airbag wiring harness as an
assembly with retaining strap.. The retaining strap and the wiring
harness are also available as individual components.

Fit wiring harness plug retaining clip

Clip on wiring harness retaining strap

Fit curtain airbag wiring harness plug

Attach wiring harness plug

Fit wiring harness plug retainer
|
|
| 9. |
Check retainers of both wiring harness plugs, and check
attachment and routing of curtain airbag wiring harness.
