Rear Axle, Replace – Models F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 68 (Basic Shaft & Cast Link Suspension)

  Remove

1.	Remove rear axle •   Model F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 68 (basic design) •   Model F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 68 (cast link suspension with drum brake) •   Model F 08, F 68 (cast link suspension with disc brake)

2.   Detach 2x brake line from rear axle •   unclip from 4x bracket (arrows) •   Detach 4x bracket from rear axle 3.   Remove wheel journal from rear axle Note:   For vehicles with disc brakes, the removal of the wheel bearing unit with brake calliper, brake disc and cover plate is performed in the same way. •   Unscrew 4 x bolts (1) •   Remove drum hub and all the attaching parts 4.   Detach 2x bracket (2) for brake hose, ABS wiring harness and parking brake cable from rear axle Note:   For vehicles with cast link suspension.

5.   Turn round rear axle on hydraulic jack with KM-904 , KM-6180-1 and KM-6180-2 Note:   For vehicles with basic equipment. •   2nd mechanic 6.   Detach stabiliser from rear axle •   Unscrew and remove 2x bolt with nut (1) •   Drive stabiliser out of rear axle with soft metal drift •   Remove 2x stop buffer (3)

  Install

7.   Attach stabiliser (2) to rear axle Note:   For vehicles with basic equipment. •   Drive into the rear axle with soft metal drift •   Insert 2x stop buffer (3) •   Tighten 2x new bolts with nut (1) 60 Nm + 15° 8.   Turn round rear axle on hydraulic jack with KM-904 , KM-6180-1 and KM-6180-2 to installation position for vehicle Note:   2nd mechanic required.

9.   Attach 2x bracket (2) for brake hose, ABS wiring harness and parking brake cable guide to rear axle 20 Nm Note:   For vehicles with cast link suspension. 10.   Attach wheel journal to rear axle Note:   For vehicles with disc brakes, the installation of the wheel bearing unit with brake calliper, brake disc and cover plate is performed in the same way. •   Attach drum hub and all the attaching parts •   Tighten 4x new bolts (1) 50 Nm + 30° + 15° 11.   Attach 2x brake line to rear axle •   Attach 4x bracket to rear axle •   Clip in 4x bracket (arrows)

12.	Fitting rear axle •   Model F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 68 (basic design) •   Model F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 68 (cast link suspension with drum brake) •   Model F 08, F 68 (cast link suspension with disc brake)
