Vehicle Identification Plate
|
Up to approx. MY '98, the Vehicle Identification Plate is
attached as a metal plate at "front top right" (2) under the
bonnet. As of approx. MY '98, the Vehicle Identification Plate is
attached as a label on the right B-pillar (1).
The content is identical for both versions, however the metal
identification plate also includes the explanations for 1 up to

Corsa-C only:
|
The Vehicle Identification Plate is optionally attached as a
sticker on the right B-pillar (1) or as a metal plate at "wheel
housing, right" (2) under the bonnet, depending on the
manufacturing plant. The contents are identical for both
versions.

Vehicle Identification Plate (Continued)
The Vehicle Identification Plate data for both versions is
explained as follows. For service, only the Vehicle Identification
Number (VIN) on line three and the colour, upholstery and program
memory code for MID (latter is optional) on line eight, are of
importance.
The official part of the vehicle identification plate is a
document with official content which fulfils EC Directive
76/114/EEC up to and including 78/507/EEC. Therefore it must not be
removed, changed or painted over. Other information legally
required for certain countries outside the EC is given in line 9 of
the rating plate. Depending on vehicle type, the information in the
non-official part can be supplemented by additional information,
e.g. "S" for sports suspension, two-colour painting etc.
Note: For
replacement, since September 2004 the riveted or glued plate has
been available via TIC at a charge. A corresponding request form
was sent to all dealers via the service circular SL 119/2004.
The request is sent by e-mail to:
