Hydraulic Modulator with ABS Control Unit, Remove
and Install (ABS 5.3, ABS 5.3 / TC)
Important: Before
repair work on the ABS-hydraulic modulator or the control unit for
the ABS-hydraulic modulator, it is essential to read the repair
instructions for the ABS 5.3, ABS 5.3 / TC, ABS 8.0, ABS 8.0/ESP.

Remove
1. |
Pull seal (1) away from plenum chamber as far as necessary

Raise covering flap (2) for brake master cylinder
|
• |
Detach closure cap (3) from brake fluid reservoir and seal
KM-558-10
|
|
2. |
Release brake lines (4) on brake master cylinder
• |
Remove guide (5) for brake line at bulkhead
|
|
3. |
Remove all brake lines (6) from hydraulic unit
• |
Unclip coolant return hose (7) from bracket on hydraulic
modulator
|
• |
Unlatch and remove wiring harness plug (8) from control
unit
|
|
4. |
Detach fastening bolts (arrows) of hydraulic modulator at
bracket
• |
Remove hydraulic modulator with control unit
|
|
|
|
Install
5. |
Insert hydraulic modulator in bracket with control unit
• |
Attach with fastening bolts (arrows) - tightening torque 10 Nm
|
|
6. |
Clip in coolant return hose (1) from bracket to hydraulic
modulator
Connect wiring harness plug (2) to control unit and latch
|
7. |
Attach all the brake lines (3) to hydraulic modulator -
tightening torquen 16 Nm

Tighten brake lines (4) on brake master cylinder - tightening
torque 16 Nm
|
• |
Insert brake line guide (5) on bulkhead
|
|
8. |
Remove KM-558-10 from brake fluid
reservoir and fit closure cap (6).
|
9. |
Bleed brake system and check for leaks
|
10. |
Close covering flap (7) of water deflector
• |
Place seal on plenum chamber (8).
