ABS Hydraulic Modulator with Control Unit, Remove
and Install/Replace (ABS 8.0, ABS 8.0 ESP)
Warning: Before
repair work on the ABS hydraulic modulator or the control unit for
the ABS hydraulic modulator, it is essential to read the repair
instructions.
Remove
1. |
Pull seal away from plenum chamber (2) as far as necessary
|
2. |
Fold up covering flap (1) for brake master cylinder.
|
|
|
3. |
Fit KM-558-10 to brake fluid
reservoir
• |
Unscrew closure cap (1)
|
• |
Fill up brake fluid to rim
|
|
Important: Catch escaping brake
fluid
|
4. |
Release brake lines (2) on brake master cylinder
• |
Release 2x nuts
Note: Use pipe
wrench.
|
• |
Remove brake line guide (3) from bulkhead
|
|
|
|
Important: Collect escaping brake
fluid and close outlet.
|
5. |
Remove ABS hydraulic modulator
• |
Remove all brake pipes from hydraulic unit
– |
Unscrew 6 x nuts (arrow)
Note: Use pipe wrench.
Note allocation of brake line.

• |
Remove cable connector (1)
|
• |
Press hydraulic modulator from bracket towards bulkhead
|
|
|
|
Install
6. |
Install ABS hydraulic modulator
• |
Press hydraulic modulator into bracket
|
• |
Tighten 2x nuts (2) 10 Nm
|
• |
Attach cable connector (1)
|
• |
Attach all brake pipes to hydraulic unit
– |
Tighten 6x nuts (arrow) 16 Nm
Note: Use pipe wrench.
Note allocation of brake line.

7. |
Attach brake lines (2) to brake master cylinder
• |
Tighten 2x nuts 16 Nm
Note: Use pipe
wrench.
|
• |
Attach brake line guide (3) to bulkhead
|
|
8. |
Bleed brake system and check for leaks
|
9. |
Close covering flap (1) for brake master cylinder
|
10. |
Fit seal to plenum chamber (2)
|
11. |
When replacing control module: program ABS control module
|
