Vacuum Hose > < Removing and installing drum hub, models F 08, F 08 & W5L and F 68

Wheel Brake Cylinder, Remove and Install

Note:   Repair or overhaul of wheel brake cylinder is not envisaged for the time being.

  Remove

1.   Detach seal (1) for plenum chamber as far as necessary.
•   Fold up cover (2)
•   Remove closure cap (3) of brake fluid reservoir and seal with MKM-558-10
2.   Detach rear wheel
•   Mark position in respect of drum hub/brake drum
3.   Remove brake shoes
4.   Unscrew brake line (4)
•   Collect escaping brake fluid and close outlets
•   Detach fastening bolt (5) and remove wheel brake cylinder

5.   Check brake shoes
Note:   Brake shoes contaminated with brake fluid must be replaced
6.   Clean brake anchor plate and drum hub/brake drum.

  Install

7.   Attach wheel brake cylinder with fastening bolt (2) to brake anchor plate - tightening torque 9 Nm
8.   Attach brake line (1) to wheel brake cylinder - tightening torque 16 Nm .
9.   Install brake shoes
10.   Remove MKM-558-10 (3) from brake fluid reservoir

11.   Bleed brake system and check for leaks LUREF_1.gif
12.   Correct brake fluid level up to mark "MAX".
13.   Fit rear wheel - tightening torque 110 Nm
14.   Close closure cap (2)
•   Place seal (1) on plenum chamber
