Control Unit for ABS Hydraulic Modulator, Replace
(ABS 8.0; ABS 8.0 ESP)
Warning: Before
repair work on the ABS hydraulic modulator or the control unit for
the ABS hydraulic modulator, it is essential to read the repair
instructions.
Remove
1. |
Remove ABS hydraulic modulator

|
2. |
Remove control module (1) for ABS hydraulic modulator
• |
Clamp hydraulic unit in vice with control module uppermost
Note: Use protective
jaw.

• |
Unscrew 4x bolts (arrow) and remove control unit
Note: Note position of
screws as they differ in length.
|
|
|
|
3. |
Check gasket on control module is in perfect condition and
clean. Control module should be replaced if gasket is damaged.
|
4. |
Clean sealing surfaces on hydraulic unit
Note: Clean carefully
with lint-free cloth. Soak cloth with spirit in the case of heavy
deposits or gasket residue.

Install
Important: Never press down on
the control unit on the cover surface, but only on the outer
housing edge
|
5. |
Attach control module (1) for ABS hydraulic modulator
• |
Align control unit centrally and carefully press onto hydraulic
modulator
|
• |
Screw in 4x new screws of the right length (arrow)
Note: Only insert
screws until the head is flush with the control module.
|
• |
Tighten 4x bolts (arrow) working diagonally 1.5 Nm
|
• |
Tighten 4x bolts (arrows) working diagonally 3 Nm
Note: Ensure the
control module is arranged correctly on the hydraulic unit.
Hydraulic unit must be replaced if screws do not go in properly or
starting torque is not reached.

Install ABS hydraulic modulator

When replacing control module: program ABS control module
