Radiator, Replace

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
Important:   On vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - every time the battery is disconnected, the steering angle sensor loses its basic setting. It must be recalibrated.
2.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Drain coolant
•   Place collecting basin underneath.
•   Open drain bolt

4.   Remove resonator
•   Remove bolt (2)
•   Pull resonator from guides
5.   Detach turbocharger charge air hose (1)
•   Open quick-release fitting
•   Release clamp

6.   Disconnect fan motor wiring harness
•   Open relay box
•   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs (1)
•   Unclip relay box
•   Disconnect ground cable (arrow)

7.   Detach coolant overflow hose
•   Release clamp
8.   Detach upper coolant hose
•   Release clamp
9.   Detach lower coolant hose
•   Release clamp
10.   Remove coolant hose, coolant compensation tank
•   Unclip coolant compensation tank
•   Release clamp
•   Expose coolant hose
11.   Detach front panelling
Note:   On Tigra-B (Model R97): detach front panelling
12.   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs
•   Wiring harness plug, auxiliary fan (2)
•   Air conditioning pressure sensor (1)
13.   Detach condenser
•   From radiator
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (arrows)
•   Suspend condenser

14.   Remove lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
15.   Remove intercooler charge air hose
•   Open quick-release fitting
16.   Disconnect compressor wiring harness plug
17.   Loosen 2 lower radiator brackets
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (1)
•   Loosen 2 bolts (2)

18.   Remove radiator
•   Remove radiator from below
•   Second person required
19.   Remove intercooler
•   Remove 2 retaining clamps
•   Release clamp

20.   Remove charge air pipe (1)
•   Unscrew 3x bolts (2 and 3)
21.   Detach lower coolant hose
•   Release clamp
22.   Remove fan housing
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (arrows)
•   Pull from guide

23.   Reassemble small parts

  Install

24.   Attach fan housing
•   Tighten 2x bolts 5 Nm
•   Fit in guides
25.   Connect lower radiator hose
•   Fasten clamp
26.   Attach charge air pipe
•   Tighten 3 bolts 5 Nm
27.   Attach intercooler
•   Attach 2 retaining clamps
•   Fasten clamp 3.5 Nm
28.   Insert radiator
•   Insert radiator from below
•   Second person required
29.   Fasten 2 lower radiator brackets
•   Tighten 4 bolts 15 Nm
30.   Connect compressor wiring harness plug
31.   Install intercooler charge air hose
•   Close quick-release fitting
32.   Install lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
33.   Lower vehicle
34.   Attach condenser
•   Release condenser
•   Tighten 2x bolts 5 Nm
35.   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs
•   Wiring harness plug, auxiliary fan
•   Air conditioning pressure sensor
36.   Attach front panelling
Note:   On Tigra-B (Model R97): attach front panelling
37.   Install coolant hose, coolant compensation tank
•   Clip in coolant compensation tank
•   Fasten clamp
38.   Connect lower coolant hose
•   Fasten clamp
39.   Connect coolant overflow hose
•   Fasten clamp
40.   Attach upper coolant hose
•   Fasten clamp
41.   Connect fan motor wiring harness
•   Connect ground cable.
•   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs
•   Clip in relay box
•   Close relay box
42.   Fasten turbocharger charge air hose
•   Close quick-release fitting
•   Fasten clamp 3.5 Nm
43.   Install resonator
•   Fit resonator in guides
•   Bolt in bolt
44.   Top up coolant
45.   Connect battery
46.   Program volatile memory
47.   Close bonnet
